Made of Plastic

We have owned this machine for 1 year - ran 19,000 copies in that time period. Xerox claims it will run 20,000 a month -
it has broken TWICE - plastic parts both times.
If it delivered as advertised, I would have kept it.

I bought this machine because they took my old Xerox copier as a trade in- it has been two months, and I am waiting on a replacement copier so I can send this hunk back to the factory!

Why?

1) the Fax to email JUST DOESN'T WORK. The machine is advertised as forwarding faxes to email. A great feature in our building, saving steps and paper. But it only works with a PC server- something that is not advertised or in the manual. It simply won't provide this function.

2) Unreliable with a capital U! Within two months, the fuser broke. And the toner cartridge lasted half its expected life, perhaps because of the faulty fuser. Out of service time- 2 days. At the same time, the fax quit working- burnt resistor on the fax board. Out of service time- 2 days. Today, there was a jam in an area that is not accessible to non-techie users, i.e. four screws to access. Rather than wait the one day for service, we figured this one out on our own. Out of service time- 1/2 day. Maybe this is the way Xerox is pushing their service plan, of $15 per month and $.015 per print. Either way, that is a lot of dough for a machine in this price range, and a lot of down time for a machine in a small office.
